LAWRENCE, Kan. – January 20, 2015 – Every year, Allen Press employees choose several local and national organizations to support through various fundraising activities and community service events.

In 2014, employees contributed to the United Way and the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence.  Employees also participated in an Elf-on-the-Shelf fundraiser for the Douglas County Toys for Tots that raised $200 in addition to two overflowing boxes of toy donations.  In November, 10 percent of proceeds from a company Book Fair also benefited the Douglas County Toys for Tots.

Allen Press continues to support other local charitable causes such as Red Dog’s Dog Days and the University of Kansas’ Vosper Society.  Contributions were also made to the Lawrence Schools Foundation, including sponsorship of a Community Education Breakfast and the Distinguished Teacher Award.

Allen Press continued its relationship with the Lawrence Arts Center in 2014, which included a print sponsorship for the William S. Burroughs exhibit.  A donation was also made to BioOne in support of its annual meeting.  An annual holiday donation was presented to Doctors Without Borders on behalf of Allen Press customers.

In November 2014, Allen Press was recognized on behalf of LiveWell Lawrence with a 2014 Culture of Health Action Award.  The company received this award for adopting a tobacco-free campus policy that includes e-cigarettes and for completing training as a WorkWell Lawrence mentor.

Employees have chosen the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence and Just Food as the annual charities for 2015.
